Its mission centers on research and innovation in teaching: FAMU DRS exists to conduct research, demonstration, and evaluation regarding the management of teaching and learning, with curriculum emphasis placed on mathematics, science, technology, and foreign languages. Home to the "Baby Rattlers," the school carries a legacy of academic excellence and community that makes it a natural home for the FAMU DRS STREAM Youth Orchestra — where the next generation of classical musicians trains inside an institution built, from the start, on developing young minds.
