The Vanguard Award for Innovation
Honoring the visionary — a composer, conductor, or crossover innovator reimagining what Black classical art can be, whether with a pen, a baton, or a genre-defying career.
The Artist-Educator Award
Honoring the heart of the movement — an artist who performs at the highest level and pours
that excellence into students and community: teaching, mentoring, opening doors, and building access to classical music where it did not exist.

Celebrating composers who expand the boundaries of classical music through original works.
Outstanding Music Organization
Honoring the institutions — an orchestra, choir, ensemble, or youth music program whose collective work elevates Black classical music and the communities it serves.
